Summer Indulgence- What’s your craving?

Do you ever indulge in food that you know are bad for you?
Do you follow your cravings sometimes and take a big bite?

I tend to live by the food motto that you need to indulge and have a little bit of bad for the good to be ‘healthy’, of course this is only a once and a while indulge. It also only works when you know you won’t start eating that way forever and get yourself into a bad pattern. Usually my indulgence is based off of a current craving (I crave red meat, cheese and chocolate but usually shy away from them).

Each week I get together with a friend to watch Netflix and have dinner. This week he was feeling fatty food and the need to indulge so I gave in.

We went to the store and picked up the ingredients to make these babies to your left:

Gluten Free Bacon Wrapped Cheese Dogs with Broccoli and Cajun Seasons French Fries

We opted for lower fat bacon and skinless boar’s head franks, which cuts back on the fat a little bit. The only worry then is the sodium overload, but I can say that for a very rare meal it was worth it!
These babies are easy to make. You simply cut the hot dog in half, drop in some cheese, wrap the whole thing in a bacon strip and tooth pick it in place for cooking. Then you cook for approximately 20 minutes at about 425 degrees. They come out crispy and juicy at the same time, simply yummy!
The fries and broccoli were  anice touch too!
So, what do you crave and what do you indulge in?

  1. I’ve been craving gluten-free pretzels for about 4 years now but haven’t gotten around to trying to make them myself yet. Also, really good croutons… And a tasty, gluten-free pale ale would be just wonderful…..
