I love a good memoir mixed with food love and recipes, and as this article discusses the new book by Blogger Gluten Free is my Bitch is just that. You can read more about the author, her inspirations, and the book in this interview.

Study Finds Lower Prevalence of Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) in Patients with Celiac Disease
More good news for those with CD, a new study discussed in this article found that CD patients had lower rates of Cardiovascular Disease and corresponding other associated conditions such as hypertension. This is the second study I’ve posted in the past two weeks suggesting a benefit to CD, but the question still remains why rates of health risks such as CVD are lower in the CD population. Are we healthier on average because we are forced to watch our diet, or is it something else?

Are Oats Safe on a Gluten-free Diet?
This well written Article by Jules Shepard discusses the then and now interpretation of whether oat are gluten free and safe for such a diet. It’s a good quick read which answers one of the biggest questions in gluten free diet planning and management.

Genetically Modified Wheat Found in Oregon Spurs International Backlash
This article discusses another GMO product that was discovered this week in the USA, Wheat. I find these GMO items frightening, and to me this is just another reason to be satisfied to be gluten free!

Unfortunate Allergy on the Rise
Not so related to Celiac Disease, but still associated with food allergies, this article discusses the rising rates of Meat allergies and it’s potential relation to tick bites. Interesting new allergy!
