Celiac Disease Can Make Holiday Treats a Pain
This National Geographic article castes a spot light on Celiac Disease to a pretty wide audience, and brings to light the risks that CD can hold to the population at large not only as an under diagnosed disease but also in the increasing amount of hidden gluten in our diets. I was not a fan of the negativity in which this article discussed CD and the gluten free diet, but it is still an interesting article.

Early Infections are Associated with Increased Risk for Celiac Disease
This recent Swedish study suggests that experiencing three infections during the first six months of life, combined with early exposure to large amounts of gluten, can increase the risk of developing Celiac Disease. Those infants who discontinued breastfeeding before being exposed to gluten in their diet seemed more at risk.

Global Report: Obesity a Bigger Health Crisis than Hunger
Based on evidence from researchers across the world, The Lancet released Thursday that obesity is now a bigger threat to global health than hunger and is now the leading cause of disabilities globally. According to research communicable diseases and hunger are no longer the leading causes of death, as ‘preventable’ diseases such as diabetes, heart diseases, and stroke become top the list.
