Gluten Free News Round-Up: December 10th-15th

Eating like the Ancients with Ancient Grains
Whether these grains are truly gluten free is still out for debate, however I thought this article was interesting. It discusses the science, development, sale, and use of these up and coming grains. It is very interesting to see old food become new again, and all that rests behind making it a reality!

Fibromyalgia and Gluten
This article dates back to August so it isn’t necessarily ‘new’ news, however I just found it so it is to me! Being someone who has been diagnosed with both Fibro and Celiacs I found this article very informative and interesting. I personally don’t know if I would go so far as some of the treatments mentioned, but it is good to know that there are natural and healthy alternatives to those who seek treatment outside of typical medicine.

Can Video Capsule Endoscopy Diagnose Celiac Disease When Esophogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) and Biopsy Fail?
EGD is the standard form of internal test used to assist in the diagnosis of Celiac Disease. However, this article suggests that research is now pointing to Video Capsule Endoscopy as an effective means of diagnosing CD in complicated cases, if not in general. This research was with a small population, so further research is needed, but this could perhaps be a less invasive and cost appropriate alternative to EGD.
