Five Years Later: Still No FDA Rule on Gluten free Food Labeling
This is appalling news for the gluten free community and really the title serve it’s own justice. In 2004, the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCP) gave 4 years to the FDA to determine gluten free labeling laws and it has been 5 years since that date passed. Still there are no laws. The next advisory board meeting is March 7th so let’s hope for some good news.

Being in the research field for the past few years I tend to follow Celiac Disease research so it was interesting to find that Market Research Reports has published a global comprehensive list of all of the current studies on CD. Unfortunately you have to pay for the full list. For those in the USA though you can search www.ClinicalTrails.Gov and type in Celiac Disease or other related keywords t find a list of studies. 

Coeliac UK Gluten Free Prescriptions Must Not Be Cut
We’ve covered this before, but it’s a very important topic over in the UK. A recent publication by doctors and researchers over there has put the gluten free prescriptions back into the spot light for potential cuts. The publication suggests that the procedure costs too much money for the NHS, and the above suggests reasons as to why the prescriptions shouldn’t be banned. You can find more thoughts here.

Many research studies looking at ‘cures’ to diseases require individuals to stop their treatment, in the case of celiac disease that would be to reintroduce gluten into a diet. Although I have been in and conducted many research studies I have always personally felt conflicted about whether I would participate personally.
