Restaurant Review: Goin’ Coastal (Atlanta, Georgia)

**Note: I just found a bunch of reviews that had been lost in the shuffle of life transitions over the past year or so, but I wanted to share anyway. This is one of them.**

“Words cannot express how delicious the food was.”-  Michael

My husband sums up my review in 8 simple words, but let me give you a bit more detail about Goin’ Coastal, with two locations in Georgia (Canton and Atlanta). Goin’ Coastal’s tag line is ‘sustainable seafood joint’, and that (along with their multiple gluten free denoted items on their online menu) is what drove us to them, as it is hard to find sustainable seafood.

The restaurant we visited in Atlanta was an open sunny little joint that we had all to ourselves for a 5:30 pm dinner. Once seated we went through the usual gluten free conversation with our waiter, who proved to be incredibly aware and knowledgeable of our needs and informed the kitchen while we were making our selections. The menu is unique. The main attraction, their sustainable sea food entrees, come four different ways and the available fish of the day are written on a large chalk board on the wall along with their prices. We ordered mussels as an appetizer, and the Coastal (Seafood seasoning and remoulade sauce) Swordfish and the Blackened (Cajun spiced over pimento cheese grits and smoked tomato butter) Rainbow trout. With that we also got a side of grits, collard greens, and a complimentary salad for two.  Take a look:

Now, going back to Mike’s quote at the top of this post: The food was stellar. Every bite of food was phenomenal and  high quality. Both fish were cooked to perfection; they almost melted on your tongue and fell to pieces at the touch of a fork.  It was well worth the cost, and our portions were larger than you would usually see at a seafood restaurant. The final shout out I’ll give them is their dedication to clearly indicating food allergies on their internal ordering system. As you can see below, our check came out with very clear hints of our dietary needs, which is always a plus for added comfort.
