Product Review: Roland’s Black Bean Quinoa

Roland Food, which has a wide array of products they sell internationally is a great brand if your looking for some quick make gluten free products. I’ve always used their sushi rice, but recently I came across their new line of flavored quinoas and was pretty excited, as sometimes you just don’t have the time to throw together a nutritious meal and need something quick, healthy and tasty to rely on.

Their Black Bean Quinoa was the package I choose to buy, and tried it one of those busy nights. As the package said it cooks up in just about 15 minutes, and the scent was splendid. The finished quinoa was light and fluffy, with a perfect texture and full Mexican  inspired flavors, but i found it a little too spicy to eat on it’s own (which was my original intention). It would certainly work well as a side dish to something that lightens that flavor, and my mind immediately went to TACOS. So I gathered those ingredients and went to town:

If your looking for a great vegetarian and gluten free taco filling this is totally it. It was heaven in a corn tortilla. The full punch easily filled about 10 tacos, if not more, for Mike and I. It was totally worth the minimal prep for a filling and delicious meal. It’s obviously a very versatile product which could certainly be eaten on it’s own, and would definitely work as a compliment to some enchiladas, grilled vegetables or anything else that would pair well with a spicy flavor. Bottom line: Quick, Simple, Nutritious, and Taste. I look forward to trying the other flavors in their line to see what I can whip up.
