Product Review: 1-2-3 Gluten Free Gourmet Brownie Chips

image1 (3)Raise your hand if you don’t like brownies. I doubt many hands went up, and with the exception of one friend of mine I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t love a good brownie. But, are you the type of person that loves the gooey inside or the crunchy outer pieces? Me, I’m the latter. I’m always stealing the corners of a tray of brownies, and it is almost always a battle. 1-2-3 Gluten Free has a solution to this battle: Their new line of Gourmet Brownie Chips. 1-2-3 Gluten Free has a long standing history of catering to the gluten free community, as Celiac Disease runs in the family. They have an extensive assortment of mixes, from pound cake to devil’s food cake, and the addition of the Gourmet Brownie Chips only strengthens things.

This new line adds a bit of a twist to the traditional brownie by adding chips of different flavors to the mix. They currently come in three flavors: Caramel, Chocolate, and Rainbow (colored white chocolate chips). The Chocolate Chip were rich and sweet, with the two tone chocolate taste quenching any chocolate craving you might have. In the words of one of my loving gluten friend gobbled them up and said “I can’t believe these are gluten free!”. The Caramel tasted less like caramel and more like coffee to me, and I am not at all a coffee fan. However, my coffee loving friends did enjoy them.

Overall their Gourmet Brownie Chips line is a great addition to the gluten free world, offering us an alternative to the glutenous brownie brittle that has been saturating the market. I love the crispy crunch of these and enjoying pairing them with ice cream and Nutella (for an added chocolate twist). I could imagine either flavor going well with a simple cream cheese dip as well. The flavor chips were well mixed throughout the batter for both, although I did find they fell to the bottom of the bag more for the Caramel. They’re a delightful little snack!

The best thing? Not only are their products free from gluten but they’re also free of peanuts, tree nuts, corn and sesame. The Chocolate chip chips are also free of dairy and casein.  Although not currently available in my area through stores, you can find them at 1-2-3 Gluten Free’s online store for a value of 4.99$-5.99$ depending on the flavor. I sure hope they expand their availability so I can grab some at my local Whole Foods!
