NuGo Slim Gluten Free Bars

Somehow, I lost this post back in September around the time that my computer crashed and my car got destroyed by hail. I only just saw this hiding around on my old unposted posts now and figured it was high time I release it to the world.

NuGo, Nutrition to Go, is a company with a long standing history of offering quality organic products. Recently, they released a new line of certified gluten free and certified Kosher bars, their Slim line and I was lucky enough to receive some of their bars for a trial. The bars are one of the first diabetic-friendly bars as they are naturally sweetened with Real Dark Chocolate and chicory root and have no other sugar additives.  This natural sweetening makes it a low sugar sweet snack and eliminates the harmful effects such as bloating, stomach cramps and pain that artificial sweeteners can cause on our digestive track. What makes things better about this bar is that it also has 15g of protein and 9 grams of fiber while only having 2 grams sugar, , making for a great and healthy treat.

NuGo sent me sample bars of their Roasted Peanut, and Brownie Crunch flavors. Often, I find that dark chocolate is an over powering flavor to me but that was not the case with these bars. Both flavors paired well with the dark chocolate coating. The two textures of the smooth, creamy outside and crumbly, moist center with chunks of chocolate or peanut, made for a bit of a twist to the traditional breakfast bar, and added many levels of flavor and taste. Of the two, I would say the Roasted Peanut was my favorite. The combination of Brownie and Dark Chocolate was on the verge of being too much chocolate for me, while the Roasted Peanut was reminiscent of Reese’s (although obviously healthier). Can’t go wrong with that! The bars were also filling, easily keeping me going and full until well past lunch time!

I recommend these bars without a doubt, especially if you have a sweet tooth! The Slim bars also come in Raspberry Truffle. NuGo also offers several other lines which are gluten free, such as their Crispy Cat, FREE,  and NuGo 10 lines. Check them out!
